Style Description
The artist explores contemporary psychology by translating ordinary objects into evocative visual metaphors. These forgotten relics—items left behind in an attic— inhabit silent environments built from soft, balanced lighting and an intelligently restrained palette. This staging creates an intentional tension between classic European still life arrangements and modern reality, imbuing the compositions with a melancholic longing for the past. Stripped of explicit chronological cues, the work prompts viewers to reflect on memory, mortality, and the emotional weight of the objects we leave behind.
Biography & Artistic Evolution
- Academic Foundations: Born in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, on September 13, 1956. He completed his initial, foundational fine arts training on the island, entering the San Alejandro National School of Fine Arts in Havana, from which he earned his specialization diploma in Painting in 1982. He later pursued higher fine arts theory and practice at the city's Higher Institute of Arts (ISA).
- Institutional Service & Parallel Disciplines: Alongside his classical easel painting practice, he developed parallel skills in visual production by working as an illustrator. He contributed technical layouts, editorial art, and fine drawings to various regional magazines, cultural journals, and children’s literature projects while building his main fine arts portfolio.
- Exile, Translocation & Relocations: Tracking his geographical trajectory, his fine arts portfolio gained early prominence in national circuits before he expanded his career onto the international stage. He departed Cuba to participate in major transnational exhibitions and contemporary showcases, developing studio chapters across Latin America and Europe before permanently translocating to the United States.
- Current Status: He currently resides and maintains his primary active home studio in Miami, Florida. He remains highly active within global contemporary art networks, collaborating with specialized galleries and showcasing his traditional oil compositions at international commercial art fairs.

Notable Artwork Series & Motifs
- The Timeless Relic / Attic Collections: A cornerstone thematic block where the artist explores human psychology and historical transition. By constructing silent domestic spaces filled with objects that have been forgotten or left behind in an attic, the compositions transform ordinary, everyday items into complex visual metaphors for memory and human emotion.
- Classic Subversions & Restrained Environments: A conceptual thread that stages an intellectual tension between classic European still life traditions and contemporary reality. This series intentionally shuns chronological constraints and utilizes soft, balanced lighting paired with an intelligently restrained color palette to evoke a melancholic longing for an unfathomable past.
- Universal Truths & Spatial Realism: A distinct painterly series focused on stripping subjects down to their essential, non-anecdotal forms. Rather than relying on simple, surface-level representation, these works leverage precise lighting and intimate geometry to turn ordinary domestic fragments into a quiet, profound testament to everlasting concepts and universal human truths.
